Good Neighbor

Started in 2001 as an annual event.  The following individuals have received the GOOD NEIGHBOR AWARD:

 
2001 - James Archer
2003 - Senator Todd Staples
2005 - Peter Low 
2007 -  Representative Fred Hill
2002 - Chaunche Thompson
2004 - Robert Mott
2006 - Dave Montoya
2008 -  Carolyn Kyzer 
 
2009 -            Representative Jim Keifer
      
 Beginning 2010, the name of the award was changed to the TROY SLOAN GOOD NEIGHBOR AWARD:
 
2010 - Troy Sloan
 
 Following are qualifications that were established prior to the first award selection in 2001:

 To Qualify for the Award, One Must:
  Support TRCA
  Support Rural Appraisal Districts
  A good friend to TRCA
  A Good Neighbor Attitude

 Eligible Persons are:
  Taxpayers
  Elected Officials
  State Employees
  Appointed Officials
  Educators
  C.A.D. Board Members

 Non-Eligible Persons:
  Chief Appraisers
  Appraisal Staff
  Appraisal Firms
  Software Firms
  Tax Collection Firms

 Purpose:
  The purpose of the Good Neighbor Award is to show appreciation, to recognize an individual, to reach out to our friends and good neighbors.  Plus, further the aim and goals of the TRCA.

 


 Amendment:
  The Steering Committee made an amendment to the qualification process in 2004 to allow a selection for an attorney if the individual had been supportive and outstanding in such a way to be “A Good Neighbor” and friend to TRCA.  The vote passed by unanimous vote.

 Amendment 2:
  In 2010, the Steering Committee made an amendment to the change the name of the Good Neighbor Award to the Troy Sloan Good Neighbor Award.  Troy has been a vital part of the Texas Rural Chief Appraisers.  He was one of the initial members of the Steering Committee and he was responsible for presenting the idea of the Good Neighbor Award.  Troy was named the first recipient of the Troy Sloan Good Neighbor Award.
